COTAK (Colorado Team Awareness Kit) is a statewide program created from inital R&D work, delivering the capabilities of the Team Awareness Kit (TAK) to public safety agencies in Colorado.
Originally developed by the Department of Defense, TAK provides a powerful geospatial platform for situational awareness. COTAK adapts this technology for civilian use, offering a managed, interoperable server infrastructure that enables agencies to share real-time location data, sensor feeds, and tactical information across jurisdictional boundaries.
Our mission is to establish a unified Common Operating Picture (COP) accessible to all responders, regardless of agency size or budget.
We maintain our core tools and integrations as open-source projects to support the broader TAK community. This allows other states and organizations to leverage our work in deploying their own public safety networks.
